In "Faceless Portrait," 2007, a memorial text of 63,000 words is based on a personal experience that took place in the early 1990's. It portrays the chance encounter and symbiotic relationship between an intense storyteller and an equally intense listener. In the installation, a handwritten index on one wall refers to the adjoining wall's text that is printed on vellum. In 2010, I began collaborating with Mad Housers, a nonprofit group taking direct action to shelter the homeless that is mentioned by the text's Narrator. Our collaboration involves building and placing huts in conjunction with exhibiting the text. |
